Lauren's 25 days till Kenya Post!

Kenya. T-minus 25 days until Kenya. So much to do in 25 days. So much to learn, so much to prepare, so much to try to figure out in just 25 days. But I know God is going to do huge things in this 25 days within both my heart and all the members of my teams hearts. Right now, I'm so excited to get this amazing adventure started, to meet Daniel and Ben, the 2 members of our team that I don't know, and dive head first into Kenyan culture and all that comes with it. But I am hesitant. I am hesitant because of my inexperience. I am hesitant because I don't know the details. I am hesitant because I don't know what to expect. But God is good. He will provide huge in the next 25 days, and he will provide huge in the days after that. Preparing for Kenya while also heading into finals week is definitely going to be a struggle, because I really just want to be done with school for the semester, but I have to rely on Him for patience and perserverence and sustenance as we get soooo close...

Daniel's Pre-Kenya Post

Here's an update from Daniel!

My little bit to long to call it a Blurb:

I am so amazed at what God can do when I let go and have no control. Cool stories on Kenya trip thus far that explain this: I was super pumped that I was finally going to have a light in my closet that I had been working on for so long. Little did I know that my parents had been trying to call me with some even better news. The past Sunday our preacher at my home church told the congregation to get ready to tackle God-sized projects in the coming months. I had just sent out my support letters not really knowing what to expect since we had just tackled a $15,000 material only mission trip to add 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen onto a house in Eastern KY, so our congregation is pretty stretched for a small country church, and when they had their board meeting, that my Dad just happened to forget about(he did not influence their decision) they said that they wanted to fund my entire trip...and I wanted to talk, but I really couldn't. Five minutes before I was excited about florescent light bulbs...how silly. The week before, I am walking in random hallway at U of L when i hear "I am going to Kenya..." as I pass by a conversation. And then I am like, "Ok can't pass up the opportunity to talk about Kenya," so I then proceed to investigate and this awesome lady is going to be in Nairobi and Kisumu for three weeks in July. I was like no way. Subtle reassurance that this is what I'm supposed to be doing. She has a cool story too, will share later. Last, but certainly not least. I have 2 roommates that are moving out, plus me being gone for the summer. So I have a house that is down 3 renters for the summer, kind of a big deal. Well I exhausted all of my contacts and got one renter added for part of the summer and accepted the fact I was going to have to sacrifice a little more that originally planned. I gave my stresses to God last night about all my loose ends, after finally realizing that I knew this was going to be a God thing since I was failing to fill in the details of making the Kenya trip and my life in the midst of 2 jobs, graduation, honor society presidentcy, and one crazy family run smoothly. So I get this call today, from a guy we are really lucky to even know in the first place (even crazier story) calls and asks if his friend can live at my house for the summer while he is on co-op in Louisville. God is so good I just can't describe it with e-mail. Thats a lot from this end, but there is definitely going to be more. I can't wait to meet you guys that I haven't met, and this summer is going to be awesome, I am so ready, nervous, but ready.
